A man takes his wife and their teenage children on a road trip down memory lane in the face of divorce. Florent Bernard wrote the film with Charlotte Gainsbourg in mind as Sandrine, but asked for an actress like Charlotte Gainsbourg instead because he thought he could never get her in the film. Fortunately, her producers were also producing Jane par Charlotte (2021) (her documentary about her famous mother), so they asked her and she liked the script. Only after she accepted that Bernard had the idea of hooking her up with José Garcia; then he completely rewrote the character for her. He finally read the script one Wednesday morning and said yes later that day. During the breakfast scene at the beginning of the film, Sandrine’s children look at the bowl of cereal in front of them in one shot, then suddenly at their mother, who is off to the side, in the next shot.
