The subtitle of the film “Folie a Deux” means “Madness of Two” in French. This initially led to speculation about the appearance of Harley Quinn in the film, which was soon confirmed.

The name Folie a Deux comes from the 19th century French psychiatrists Charles Lasègue and Jules Falret. The term was coined to refer to two or more people who share the same madness or delusion. The film opens with the title sequence of Looney Tunes, with the Warner Bros. logo. surrounded by rings and the Joker’s face featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The Wicked Discovery of a Lifetime (2022). I loved the first Joker movie directed by Todd Phillips, but I have to say what the hell were they thinking when they decided to jump into a sequel.
Joaquin Phoenix gives a decent performance, but nowhere near as good as the one in the first film
Unlike the first film, this film has virtually no story, but rather a series of weird and crazy vignettes strung together with musical numbers that got old very quickly and stretched the running time far longer than necessary for how much fun it actually was. I continued to wait with bated breath thinking that this must be setting up for a big moment that unfortunately never comes, and instead I’m just left disappointed as the movie ends worse than it started. I was nervous when I saw the trailer, but now that I’ve seen it, I kind of wish I hadn’t. If you’re a fan of the first movie, it’s a big unknown whether you’ll like this one or not, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
